Cookie notice

Short version: this website sets no cookies at all, so there is no consent banner and nothing to opt out of. The long version explains the one external request the pages do make.

1. We do not use cookies

lanrigson.org is a static website: plain HTML, one stylesheet and one small JavaScript file. It sets no first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, no local storage entries and no session identifiers. There is no analytics package, no advertising or remarketing technology, no social media widget, no heat-mapping, no A/B testing and no tracking pixel of any kind.

Because nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it, regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) does not require us to ask for your consent — which is why you were not shown a banner.

2. What the JavaScript does

The single script on this site handles the mobile navigation menu, the FAQ accordions, the progress bars in the job-ticket panel, the fade-in as sections scroll into view, and the current year in the footer. It sends no data anywhere, makes no network requests, and stores nothing. Disabling JavaScript leaves every page fully readable — the accordions simply appear open.

3. The one external request

The pages load typefaces (Archivo, IBM Plex Sans and IBM Plex Mono) from Google Fonts at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google Fonts does not set cookies when serving fonts, but like any web request it necessarily receives your IP address, the page that requested the font and your browser user-agent. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

If you would rather it did not happen, block those two domains in your browser or an extension. The site is designed to degrade cleanly: you will see it in your system sans-serif and monospace faces, with the layout, colours and content unchanged.

4. Server logs

Our hosting provider records ordinary web-server logs — IP address, timestamp, requested file, response code and user-agent — for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. These are not cookies, are not used to build a profile of you, and are not combined with any other data we hold. They are retained for a short period by the host and then rotated out.

5. Email

Messages you send to support@lanrigson.org arrive in an ordinary mailbox. We do not embed tracking pixels in our replies and we do not use read receipts or link-tracking. How we handle the content of that correspondence is set out in the privacy notice.

6. If this changes

Should we ever add a service that requires cookies — an online booking system, for example — this page will be updated first, a consent mechanism will be added before any non-essential cookie is set, and the version and date above will change. Until then, this page describes the site exactly.
